How durable are container homes? How many years can they last?
Standard container homes are made of weathering steel and have undergone corrosion and rust prevention treatments. They have a normal service life of 15-25 years. Regular maintenance (such as repainting and checking seals) and the use of insulation and fireproofing materials can further extend their service life.
Can container homes withstand extreme weather, such as typhoons or heavy snow?
Yes. The container itself is structurally sound, with a wind resistance rating of at least 10 (requires a solid foundation), and a load-bearing capacity of approximately 3-4 tons per container. For snowy areas, roof slope reinforcement or additional support structures can be used to mitigate snow accumulation. Customized designs can be adapted to suit different climates.
Are the thermal insulation and sound insulation effects of container houses poor?
Single-layer containers do have shortcomings, but by adding rock wool/polyurethane insulation, double-layer hollow glass, sound insulation felt and other materials, the thermal insulation and sound insulation performance can reach the standard of ordinary residential buildings. Ventilated roofs or external shading structures can also be designed in high-temperature areas.
How much money can container houses save compared to traditional house construction?
The cost is approximately 30%-60% of that of traditional brick-concrete structures. For example, a 20-square-meter unit costs approximately 30,000-50,000 yuan (including basic utilities), while a fully furnished version costs 80,000-120,000 yuan. Advantages include a short construction period (1-2 weeks for installation) and removable and reusable design, making it suitable for budget-constrained or urgent housing needs.
What if you want to expand the area or relocate later?
The biggest advantage of container houses is flexibility! To expand the area, you only need to splice new containers horizontally (with reserved interfaces); when relocating, the entire container is hoisted and transported, and the cost is much lower than dismantling and rebuilding traditional houses. We provide modular design to facilitate layout adjustment later.
